About

In the Amador district of Panama City, there is only one place to meet the people you need to fix your boat, and that's the shoppette, an overpriced convenience store filled with gringos. This song is the triumphant celebration of finally being able to cross the Panama canal after over a month of costly boat repairs and bureaucracy, and most importantly not ever having to go back to the shoppette.

Lyrics

Well I’m never going back to that old shoppette. You’ll probably have to kill me, and I ain’t dead yet. I’m gonna meet you Somewhere new. I’m gonna meet you When I push on through. This place will steal your soul if you let it, So make up your mind and don’t forget. It’s a long, long road up against the current So you better get off now if you’re afraid to get wet. I’ve been feeling kinda funny and I don’t know what to say for myself. The air is getting cloudy and I think it’s bad for my health. Well I’m never going back to that old shoppette. You’ll probably have to kill me, and I ain’t dead yet. I’m gonna meet you Somewhere new. I’m gonna meet you When I push on through. Hey hermano, let me finish my sentence. What I was going to say is there ain’t no place like this. Where you leave every night saying never again, But some way, somehow it just always pulls you in. They bought chairs with my money so I guess that I might as well sit. A couple Paul Simons and I guess it’s time well spent. Well I’m never going back to that old shoppette. You’ll probably have to kill me, and I ain’t dead yet. I’m gonna meet you Somewhere new. I’m gonna meet you When I push on through. All the good people they come and go. But for me time moves too slow. Where the land meets the sea, You know where I’ll be I’m never going back I’m never going back I’m never Going back
